JCB has slated a 2015 Middle East release date for its 3CXG backhoe loader.

The digger, which was unveiled during the British manufacturer’s international press conference, has been designed to minimise operational costs for end users.

The ‘G’ in the entry-level machine’s title stands for ‘global’, and reflects the fact that the loader has been designed with an eye on contractors operating in emerging markets.

“The JCB 3CX has a long-standing reputation as a premium product that continues to deliver value for discerning customers around the world,” commented Tim Burnhope, chief innovation and growth officer at JCB.

“However, as a full-range supplier of construction equipment, we work very hard to deliver solutions for different customer requirements, so we’ve recently come up with an alternative offering. It’s an entry-level 3CX backhoe loader designed specifically for arduous applications in developing economies…our 3CX Global backhoe,” he added.

The 3CXG features strengthened loader arms, with a formed and welded design that’s both sturdy and durable. A large torsion box is positioned close to the machine’s shovel at the base of the loader arms, optimising visibility for the operator whilst reducing lateral twist.

The backhoe loader boasts a maximum shovel tear-out force of 6,500kgf, and a 1.1m3 standard front bucket. Although versatile, the machine has been designed to cater to core digging tasks, according to Burnhope.

“The Middle East is a hard-dig area, so with the 3CXG – the structure and simplicity of it – we’ve designed a digging machine capable of working 3,500 hours per year,” he explained.

“It’s about getting back to the basics of digging, trenching, and high-hour action. We’ve very much focused on building a machine for contractors who really go to town in these harsh environments,” said Burnhope.

Initially, the 3CXG will be rolled out across Russia and CIS countries. JCB intends to introduce the backhoe loader to the Middle East market during 2015.
