Raed Hosny, product support marketing manager at Mohamed Abdulrahman Al-Bahar, tells CW what it takes to facilitate Caterpillar users operating in the Middle East.
What does your role involve?
As product support manager at Al-Bahar, I am responsible for delivering aftersales service and parts to our customers. I help end users to manage their Caterpillar equipment by visiting sites, inspecting machines, and advising our customers how to lower their operating and owning costs.
I also plan, direct, and manage all activities related to the sales of Cat parts and services. It’s my job to maintain a product support sales organisation that is well-equipped and trained to carry out related plans and product support marketing operations.
What do you love most about your job?
As a member of Al Bahar Group, Caterpillar’s authorised dealer in the Gulf, we take pride in being a major contributor in the development of the countries in which we serve. We have facilitated projects such as the building of roads, highways, international airports, and power plants, to name but a few.
We are also proud of our long-standing association with Caterpillar, and our commitment to remain the number-one service provider to our customers across the region.
What has been your most memorable project and why?
The most memorable project for me was our contribution to the development and construction of the tallest building in the world, the UAE’s Burj Khalifa.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
Overcoming all barriers and keeping our customers happy by ensuring that their equipment remains operational with maximum performance.
Where do you see the construction industry in five years?
After overcoming the recent downturn, the UAE is witnessing a gradual boom. This is because of the infrastructure that has been put in place during the past 15 years; the country has become focused, and in turn, attracts business.
Expo 2020 has also helped to open the doors for the revival of the construction sector. Many of the largest upcoming projects will necessitate heavy machinery and power generation equipment.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to be with my family the most; to go out with them whenever time permits. I also enjoy watching football matches and listening to classical music.
