A SENNEBOGEN 835 R Special is proving itself to be a valuable tool at the Port of Berwick in the United Kingdom.
Owing to its 3m-tall pipe pylon and elevating cab, the cargo handling unit is able to unload ships at the port, regardless of the water level.
The lofty lugger, which was supplied by SENNEBOGEN’s UK and Ireland channel partner, E H Hassell and Sons, is being used primarily to unload bulk agriculture goods at the east-coast port.
The height and versatility of the 835 R Special means that ships calling at the port can be safely loaded or unloaded at any tidal height. This capability has been welcomed by Berwick’s operators, who must deal with tidal ranges of up to 4m.
The unit’s 3m-tall, height-adjustable Max cab boasts armoured glass, and its supplemental floor window offers optimised visibility for operators.
The model’s 3.8m-wide crawler undercarriage is driven by a 224kW diesel engine, and with a 20m-long arm, the machine has proven itself to be an effective tool at the site.
The 835 R Special’s owners certainly seem impressed with the performance of the unit, which is reported to be handling 1,500 tonnes of material daily.
