MAN Truck & Bus has revealed that it is on course to sell 1,000 units in the UAE during 2014, a 20% improvement over last year.

“The UAE is doing very well,” said Markus Geyer, senior vice president and head of MAN’s Middle East and Africa sales region.

“We’re heading for 1,000 units this year in the UAE alone, which is a very nice achievement. We estimate that we’ve secured some 25% market share overall; on the construction side, definitely more than that,” he revealed.

The German commercial vehicles manufacturer also is also celebrating 20 years of partnership with its Emirati distributor, Darwish Bin Ahmed and Sons (DBA), at this year’s iteration of The Big 5. Geyer presented the dealer’s president, Abdulla Darwish, with a certificate of appreciation on the opening day of the show.

“The long-term success of a brand is half due to its products, and half due to the support that those products receive on a daily basis,” commented Geyer.

“This year, DBA won first prize in MAN’s service quality award for the Middle East. That’s an excellent achievement and, I think, shows why we are successful here in the UAE,” he told PMV.

The commemorative plaque was awarded to Darwish for “20 years of exceptional achievements in the promotion, sales, and aftersales services”.
