Genie is to roll out its upgraded SmartLink Control System in the Middle East.

The latest version of SmartLink has been tailored in accordance with customer feedback, and features a simplified user interface for the platform controller as well as a proportional lift and drive control on the joystick.

The on-board diagnostics and troubleshooting tool is now available for Genie’s Slab Scissor and Runabout aerial work platform (AWP) ranges in the Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Russia (EMEAR) region.

“The SmartLink upgrade is a clear example of how we continuously improve our products to provide additional value to customers,” said Carlo Forini, director of business development and product management at Genie’s parent company, Terex AWP EMEAR.

“Early customer feedback has been enthusiastically received,” he explained.

The system has been refined to reduce hand fatigue by replacing the ‘push-and-hold’ format with a ‘momentary push’ button for lifting. In addition, outriggers can now be controlled via the joystick.

The latest version of SmartLink, which is available from Genie Parts, includes a software update, a controller overlay replacement, an upgraded decal kit, and replacement manuals. The system can be retrofitted in the field without the need to replace platform or ground-control units.

The upgraded SmartLink Control System is compatible with Genie’s GR, GRC, QS, and GS Slab Scissor models, and its GS-69 DC and GS-69 BE Series AWPs.
