The Ford F-150 pickup truck is to be the official vehicle of 2015 International CES.
Ford’s latest F-150 has been recognised by the organisers of the Las Vegas trade show for an array of advances, including its reduced weight and driver-assist technologies.
The US-headquartered vehicle manufacturer contends that the redesigned pickup offers improved levels of safety and efficiency to its commercial users.
“We are honoured the 2015 F-150 is the official vehicle of CES, proving that the new standard in full-size pickups is not only ‘Built Ford Tough’ but also smart, with innovative design and technologies that help [customers] do more with their truck,” commented Doug Scott, marketing manager for Ford Truck Group.
Owing to a military-grade, aluminium-alloy body and a high-strength steel frame, the overhauled F-150 is more than 300 kg lighter than its predecessor.
The truck is also available with an expanded range of driver-assist technologies, including adaptive cruise control, a smart towing mode, multi-contour seats, active park assist, a 360° camera, and a blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert.
The Consumer Electronics Association, the outfit that owns and produces CES, has stated that the technological advancements of the latest Ford F-150 will appeal to the show’s visitors.
“We are excited to have the new F-150 as the official vehicle of the 2015 CES,” explained Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association.
“With state-of-the-art technologies, driver-assist features, and dramatic improvements in weight savings, the F-150 delivers the type of connectivity, efficiency, and performance tech-savvy consumers demand in their vehicles.
“We look forward to seeing the Ford once again at our show,” he added.
As the event’s official vehicle, the F-150 will be showcased at Ford’s main stand, and will feature prominently throughout the show floor.
2015 International CES will take place from 6-9 January at the Las Vegas Convention Center in the United States.
