Abu Dhabi Ports has revealed plans to upgrade terminal operating systems (TOS).
The port operator will replace its existing software with the ‘Master Terminal’ programme, which provides real-time information about cargo flows.
The TOS roll out is scheduled to take place during the second quarter of 2015, with Khalifa Port and Zayed Port the first sites slated to switch.
“’Master Terminal’ will boost our service offerings and support us in handling our growing general cargo volumes and delivering trade excellence,” commented Gary Lemke, executive vice president of Abu Dhabi Ports’ Ports unit.
“We selected Jade Software as our partner to install ‘Master Terminal’ because it is the best product to meet our requirements. Jade Software also brings a wealth of experience in general cargo operations, and this knowledge is crucial to us as we transform our business to be the leading general cargo operator and prot choice in the region,” he added.
Abu Dhabi Ports is confident that the TOS upgrade will facilitate the handling of larger cargo volumes across its terminals. The operator claims that the software will increase visibility and productivity with regards its operations, planning, and reporting procedures.
“We are excited to have formed this new relationship with Abu Dhabi Ports, and look forward to working closely with them to not only achieve their operational goals, but also to support their growth aspirations for the future,” commented David Lindsay, managing director of Jade Software.
Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa Port and Zayed Port have been selected as the first sites to incorporate ‘Master Terminal’ due to their strategic importance for Abu Dhabi Ports. The terminals boast a combined annual capacity of 20mn tonnes of cargo.
