Caterpillar Work Tools has added a trio of demolition and sorting grapples to its G300 GC Series line-up.
The US manufacturer claims that its G310 GC, G313 GC, and the G315 GC grapples will minimise owning and operating costs for its customers.
The grapples, which have been designed for hydraulic excavators with operating weights ranging from 10 to 19 tonnes, can be used to sort debris at source, load and unload containers, and strip buildings in preparation for demolition.
“Our economical new demolition and sorting grapples are purpose-built to handler materials and fit our customers’ budget,” commented Bert Heijligers, marketing communication manager at Caterpillar Work Tools.
“They are designed to reach a broader family of customers and to compete in a fast-growing market. All GC grapples are backed by Caterpillar’s commitment to quality,” he added.
The G310 GC is suitable for use with excavators from 10 to 15 tonnes, and offers a closing force of 36kN. The G313 GC model also boasts a closing force of 36kN, but is compatible with excavators from 12 to 16 tonnes. The G315 GC, meanwhile, is the largest of the trio. It can be used with excavators from 15 to 19 tonnes, and delivers a closing force of 52kN.
The G300 GC Series grapples are available with a fixed, upper head, or with a top plate for the mounting of an adapter bracket. This means that the grapples can be exchanged between multiple carriers.
When used in conjunction with a Cat CW Quick Coupler, the tools can be swapped with other attachments in seconds. Caterpillar excavators boast pre-programmed settings to accommodate the G300 GC Series grapples.
The products also feature hydraulic, 360° rotation, enabling operators to approach material from a broad range of angles. The grapples’ perforated shells are designed to maximise visibility during operation.
Maintenance was also a priority for the Cat design team; the grapples sport panels that offer easy access to their main components. Replaceable, abrasion-resistant cutting edges have also been included as standard.
The grapples will be available to customers in the Middle East with immediate effect.
