Komatsu has awarded smartphones to the three fastest excavator operators from Jaidah Heavy Equipment’s golf ball challenge.
The contest, which was held last week in Doha, was designed to identify the quickest excavator operators in Qatar.
In total, 40 operators climbed aboard one of Komatsu’s giant hydraulic excavators in a bid to transport a golf ball from one area to another in the shortest possible time.
“The competition is a fun and light way of illustrating the Komatsu excavator’s stability and strength,” explained Ayman Ahmed, managing director of Jaidah Heavy Equipment, the Japanese manufacturer’s authorised dealer for Qatar.
“Its visibility was also reflected in the operators’ skills, thereby showing that such an accurate machine requires an accurate operator to ensure efficiency. [Such events also serve] to strengthen the engagement between operators and Komatsu machines,” he added.
In addition to senior management figures from Jaidah, the competition was attended by Komatsu Middle East’s managing director, Kenichi Sato. During the event, Sato presented Ahmed with an award for ‘outstanding market share achievement’ in recognition of Jaidah Group’s performance during 2014.
“We’re pleased to be highlighting the strengths of another member of the Komatsu family,” commented Ashraf Hasheesh, Komatsu’s general manager for marketing.
“The Komatsu excavator qualities of viability and steadiness will definitely add to the high standard of construction products and services in Qatar,” he concluded.
