Camoplast Solideal has changed its name to Camso.
The new moniker will become the master brand of the Canadian manufacturer of off-highway tyres, tracks, and track systems following an unspecified period of transition.
The company says that Camso represents the best of both its Camoplast and Solideal ranges.
Commenting on the move, Pierre Marcouiller, chairman of the board and CEO, said: “The launch of Camso highlights the success our company has achieved in just a few years. We have become the world’s second-largest specialised player in the manufacturing of tyres, tracks, and track systems for off-the-road vehicles.”
The company has grown its sales from $95m to more than $1bn inside seven years. Camso’s current range caters to four markets: material handling, construction, agriculture, and power sports.
With more than 7,500 employees spread across 27 countries, Camso will continue to design, manufacture, and distribute tyres, wheels, tracks, and track systems for the off-highway segment. The company works with a number of major original equipment manufacturers, including Toyota, Caterpillar, John Deere, and BRP.
Despite the name change, Marcouiller emphasised that Camso would continue to concentrate on the off-highway sector.
“One might think that producing on-road and off-road tyres are one and the same, but this simply isn’t the case,” he pointed out “This has driven Camso to constantly reinvent itself. Our people take the time to understand the multitude of constraints and challenges that machine operators experience.”
