Abu Dhabi Ports has successfully implemented the upgrade of legacy systems at Zayed Port – the first of seven – with Jade’s Master Termainal operating system (OS), which is expected to deliver productivity gains of 15%-20%.

“Zayed Port is the first port that will benefit from our terminal operating system. Jade Master Terminal will enable real-time management of all aspects of general cargo operations, including bulk, break bulk, Roll-on/Roll-off (RORO) and project cargo,” said David Lindsay, MD of Jade Software.

Gary Lemke, executive VP of Ports at Abu Dhabi Ports, added: “The implementation of this new OS at Zayed Port is a significant milestone. By driving greater efficiencies in cargo handling, it will help Abu Dhabi Ports to achieve its goal of becoming the leading general cargo port operator in the region.”

Jade Master Terminal will next be implemented at Khalifa Ports’ general cargo and RORO terminals by 1st August 2015, and thereafter across the remainder of Abu Dhabi Ports.

Phase One of Abu Dhabi Ports’ Khalifa Port was inaugurated on 12/12/12 by the UAE President, HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the semi-automated container terminal now handles all Abu Dhabi’s container traffic after taking over the role from the city’s historic Zayed Port.

Khalifa Port has an annual handling capacity of 2.5 million TEUs and 12 million tonnes of general cargo, and with all phases complete, it will be able to handle 15 million TEUs and 35 million tonnes.
