Ford Trucks and Al Tayer Motors have marked their second year at The Big 5 & PMV Live trade exhibition with a display of three new models for 2016.

The models include the 1843 T tractor, the 3535M 6×4 chassis mixer and the larger 4135M 8×4 chassis mixer.

Emrah Duman, director for international market at Ford Trucks, from the company’s MEA production facility in Turkey, was also in attendance to reveal plans to expand Ford’s commercial vehicle presence in the Gulf beyond the UAE and Saudi Arabia to include Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Iraq.

The expansions plans include two additional facilities in Saudi Arabia, at Jeddah and Dammam, on top of the present facility in Riyadh, and a total of three facilities in Iraq, located in Erbil, Basra and Baghdad.

Ford Trucks launched its operation in the GCC with Al Tayer Motors just one year ago, boasting vehicles attuned region’s conditions through a vigorous R&D and testing process in Turkey and as the first heavy truck brand to offer a three-year warranty.

Duman, noted: “The Middle East is a priority region in Ford Trucks’ growth plans. We believe our product line-up is well ahead of the competition, offering solutions to different market needs, like our ‘hot climate package’ developed for the GCC region, and others for all the Middle East market.

“Our expanded network will provide customers with strong service support and spare parts availability, and our growing network will lead to stronger presence of Ford Trucks in the region.”

In addition to the hot climate package, Ford’s Middle East range can be customised with transmission and cabin modules for both on-road and off-road conditions.

The tractors and construction vehicles are offered with 10 mm 500 MPa chassis frame, while the 2016 1843T tractor model comes with a 10.3l 424hp engine with a Euro 3 emissions rating and ESP.

The 2016 mixer series, with its 6×4 and 8×4 versions, uses a 350hp engine, with mixer capacities ranging from 7.7m3 and 12.7m3.
