Ford Middle East has announced the appointment of Mohammed El Houssami as its sales director for Ford and Lincoln dealers across the GCC markets, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen.

He will replace Thierry Sabbagh, who was recently appointed as MD for Ford Middle East.

El Houssami, a Lebanese national, has over 15 years of experience in GCC and Middle East automotive markets, having held positions across sales, aftersales and the dealer network for General Motors Middle East.

Sabbagh, who is also of Lebanese nationality, commented: “We are pleased to welcome Mohammed and look forward to his valuable contribution to our team.

“With his knowledge and background, we are confident that he will lead our sales operations to greater heights and accelerate the delivery of Ford and Lincoln products across our dealership network in the region.”

As MD, Sabbagh is responsible for sales of both Ford’s consumer vehicles and for stepping up its commercial vehicle sales in the region, after Ford Trucks formally entered the Gulf market in 2014.

In 2015, Ford Trucks launched three 2016 dedicated models for the Middle East market: the 1843T tractor head, 3535M 6×4 chassis mixer and larger 4135M 8×4 chassis mixer.

Sabbagh noted “an improved dealer network and level of capability, along with making the customer sales and service experiences second-to-none” as key priorities for the brand moving forward.

Ford’s commercial vehicle is presently limited to the UAE and Saudi Arabia, but the group has plans to expand to include Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and three locations across Iraq: Erbil, Basra and Baghdad.
