Daimler Trucks achieved record results in 2015, with its earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) from ongoing business grew by 32% during the year from 2014 – from $2.29bn to $2.94bn.
The company witnessed a corresponding improvement in its operating margin from 6.4% to 7.3%.
The performance was driven by a rise in sales to 502,478 units in 2015 (from 495,668 in 2014). Since 2013, Daimler Trucks has witnessed an increase in sales of around 4%, while the global market excluding China has contracted by around 4% over the same period.
Wolfgang Bernhard, head of Daimler Trucks & Buses, said: “Despite a challenging environment, 2015 was one of the best years in the history of Daimler Trucks. “We owe this to our outstanding products and services, strong sales performance and continuous efficiency measures. Our team will continue to follow exactly the same course in 2016 – and that will ensure our success this year as well.”
Daimler Trucks has identified the Middle East as a key growth region moving forward, and last year launched a dedicated commercial vehicles operations in Dubai for 19 countries in the MENA region.
