Himoinsa has certainly worked the crowd since first announcing plans for a genset capable of running for 1,000 hours maintenance-free in mid-2015, but the HYW-35 T5 has finally hit the region.
Designed for the long-haul, the diesel genset delivers both a 1,000-hour service interval and a colossal 1,000-litre fuel tank.
As a manufacturer, Himoinsa is earnestly driving its research and development efforts straight to the heart of the most region’s pressing needs for ease of operation on often remote job sites.
The manufacturer claims rapid growth in the region, and it is no idle boast: over the 18-month period ending Q3 2015, Himoinsa sold 1,000 generators into Saudi Arabia — 7% of the market share. It also corresponded to 33% of the brand’s sales in the Middle East.
“One of the reasons why we are the fastest growing genset maker is because we are a vertically integrated — so we can adjust the product to the market and end customer,” says Guillermo Elum, the sales and marketing director for Himoinsa Middle East.
“It is not that we are making tailored gensets; it means that here we are working with extreme weather conditions and we have the product for this market.”
The HYW-35 T5 was launched at Dubai’s Middle East Electricity event, held in March, where it transpired that the 1,000-hour mark is achieved through the use upgraded filters and a valve that automatically replenishes the oil.
At the show, Himoinsa also unveiled other models from its the HYW industrial and HRYW rental ranges: the former line featuring gensets from 8kVA to 65kVA; the latter encompassing units from 16kVA to 40kVA.
Both lines improve autonomy by reducing refuelling frequency, and increasing the maintenance intervals, according to Elum.
“There is capital expenditure and operational expenditure, and we reduce the operational costs of all our customers — we save for them,” he says. “At the same time, we are able to product for the customer the product that they want in the factory, but we request a minimum volume — it’s important, but we can do that.”
Speaking of volumes, another market milestone for Himoinsa was the supply of 40 gensets for the Haramain railway project between Makkah and Madinah.
Today, one example of a large project using Himoinsa product is Doha Festival City, where five 1.7MW gensets are in the process of being installed by Byrne Rental.
Himoinsa’s new HRGP line of LPG-powered generators have meanwhile been designed with rental applications in mind, and can run for 24 hours on one tank.
Critically for the rental model, the HRGP models, offering 25kVA, 40kVA, and 60kVA of power, lower fuel costs and maintenance costs compared to diesel generators.
Elum notes: “We are living in a global economic situation that is not the best, but last year we grew our revenue by more than 60%.
