The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (BCCI)  executive committee is considering the implementation of legislations to improve road safety in the country.

One of these legislations will stipulate standard specifications for trucks entering Saudi Arabia.

BCCI member and head of the transport and logistics sector committee, Abdulhakeem Al Shemeri, said meetings could be organised with the Customs Affairs of the Ministry of Interior of Bahrain to formulate these standards.

Saudi Customs would implement these standards.

Al Shemeri added: “The new standard specifications for trucks state fixing protective barriers on trucks with the aim of preventing the slip of smaller vehicles underneath trucks in case of collision, and thus mitigating the prospective damage and protecting lives.

“We aim to inform and enlighten the transport and logistics sector in Bahrain of the new regulation and the importance of abiding by it to streamline their passage from and to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and prevent time and money losses,” he added.Â
