Dubai’s auto parts trade valued at $11bn in 2015

Auto parts and accessories transactions accounted for 3.3% of Dubai's $348bn non-oil trade last year, a Dubai Customs official has revealed

Dubai’s trade for auto parts and accessories, as revealed by Dubai Customs, stood at $11.1bn (AED40.5bn) in 2015.

This figure represents 3.3% of Dubai’s total non-oil foreign trade, which amounted to $348.4bn (AED1.28tn) during the year.

Around 2 million tonnes of auto parts and accessories were traded in 2015, Dubai Media Office reported. 

Japan ($1.5bn; AED5.5bn), South Korea ( $925.6m; AED3.4bn), USA ($816.7m; AED3bn), Germany ($789.5m; AED2.9bn), and China ($789.5m; AED2.9bn) were Dubai’s top country partners last year in terms of auto parts. 

Major components of the emirate’s automotive aftermarket trade were sedan tyres at $898.4m (AED3.3bn), auto batteries at $707.8m (AED2.6bn), truck and bus tyres at $653.4m (AED2.4bn), fuel filters at $299.4m (AED1.1bn), and clutches at $272.2m (AED1bn). 

The figures were announced at Automechanika Dubai 2016, Nassim Al Mehairi, manager of the statistics section at Dubai Customs.Â
