The new covering of the Holy Kaaba in Makkah, or Kiswa, which is replaced every year on the 9th Dhul Hijjah in the Islamic calendar – the second calendar day of the annual Hajj – was installed by four Haulotte Compact 14 scissor lifts for the second year running in 2015.
The annual renewal of the Kiswa, which is made of embroidered cloth, is considered one of the most important signs of respect and veneration directed towards the maintenance of the revered building.
The ritual of its replacement is carried out in a ceremony that today is assisted, like so many other tasks at height, by aerial platforms, supplied for the last two years by Haulotte machines by Roots Group Arabia, the brand’s dealer in Saudi Arabia.
The Haulotte Compact 14 model is particularly suitable for the work thanks to its optimal 350kg lifting capacity, its ability to be driven at its full height of 14m and its solid non-marking tyres.
