UD Trucks (formerly Nissan Trucks) and its distributor, Rolaco Trading and Contracting Holding, have launched the heavy-duty Quester truck in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a month after its release in Qatar.
The Quester is fit for off and on-road use and construction, distribution and long-haul applications, having proven itself through years of quality control tests conducted by UD Trucks and Volvo Group.
Jan-Erik Thorén, business director for UD Trucks Middle East, explained: “The new Quester is based on a heavy-duty truck platform, with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 20 tonnes and upwards; a gross combination weight of 80 tonnes and various heavy-duty engines, gear-boxes and rear axles.”
Previously, UD Trucks did not have 4×2 rigid in the 21-tonne range – European specification that remains uncommon to any other Japanese manufacturer. UD also plans to introduce 8×4 rigid trucks.
Lars-Erik Forsbergh, president of Volvo Trucks Middle East, said: “We are very excited about the arrival of the Quester range in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. With the new Quester, we have built on our tradition of reliability and durability, and made good on our promise of, ‘going the extra mile’.
“I am confident that Quester will be a big game changer for UD Trucks. More than 400 experts with extensive knowledge and experience helped design, develop and validate the Quester – spending some 1,500,000 engineering hours and 65,000 test hours to build the ‘ultimate trucking machine’.”
According to UD Trucks, it combines Japanese craftsmanship with a hands-on approach to product development based on the insights from customers’ day-to-day needs and the global technology and aftersales know-how of the Volvo Group from its experience in Middle East.
UD Trucks also boasts that its Quester trucks have a lower operating cost compared to its competitors, due to the vehicles’ longer services intervals and the Volvo Groups parts availability.
Sami Al Halabi, COO of Rolaco, added: “We are once again providing a customer-adapted solution in the heavy duty segment with a high quality UD Truck. We are looking forward to exceeding customers’ expectations with its performance and the related services Rolaco will provide.”
