Hitachi Construction Machinery Middle East (HMEC) has appointed Middle East Crane Equipment Trading (MECET), of the Luyckx Group, as the exclusive UAE distributor and full service provider for its Hitachi construction machinery and Hitachi Sumitomo crawler cranes in the UAE.
The contract was signed by Hidefumi Sameshima, HMEC president, and Jos Luyckx, MECET director, in the presence of their respective GMs, Piet van Bakergem for HMEC and Wim Aernouts for MECET at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2016 trade event.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, and already known for its robust aftersales and spare parts support, MECET is scheduled to open an additional 10,000m2 facility for sales, service and spare parts in Dubai Investments Park – near Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) – by the end of 2017.
Piet van Bakergem commented: “We are confident this union with MECET will reinforce our joint position in the construction machinery and crawler crane market for the UAE territory.”
In addition to its four years of local experience, MECET benefits from over 60 years’ worth of managerial experience as a subsidiary of the Luyckx Group, which was established in 1952 in Brecht in the province of Antwerp, Belgium.
Luyckx, a market leader in Belgium and a global supplier of machines, established MECET in 2012 for an initial investment of around $640,000 (600,000EUR). Many of its regional customers are involved in the construction of artificial drilling rigs and the construction of new oil refineries.
