CNH Industrial’s joint venture powertrain manufacturing plant (SFH) in Chongqing, China, has been recognised for its manufacturing excellence with a Bronze Level certification in World Class Manufacturing.
SFH is a joint venture in which CNH Industrial is majority shareholder through its FPT Industrial and Iveco brands. Founded in 2007, and employing some 500 people, SFH is one of the biggest engine manufacturers in China and a pioneer in advanced low-emissions diesel engines.
CNHI’s World Class Manufacturing programme is a continuous improvement system, like Kaizen, designed to eliminate waste and loss from its production processes with independently assessed objectives targeting zero injuries, zero defects, zero breakdowns and zero waste.
The SFH plant, located in the Huang Mao Ping in Chongqing, produces FPT Industrial powertrains for CNH Industrial’s agricultural equipment, construction equipment and commercial vehicles brands.
The SFH manufactures engines for light, medium and heavy vehicle engines for on- and off-road use, including the entire Cursor family, as well as units for power generation and marine applications.
The Chongqing plant is also home to the multi-award winning FPT Industrial Cursor 9 engine, which, in its diesel version, powers the Case IH Magnum, the 2015 Tractor of the Year, and the Iveco Magelys bus, the 2016 International Coach of the Year.
In its Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) version, the Cursor 9 is the most powerful 9l natural gas engine in the world, and powers the Iveco New Stralis NP – the first natural gas truck specifically designed for long-haul operations.
The SFH plant exports 50% of its production to markets around the world, and is the first engine manufacturer in China to produce power plant units at Tier 4 Final and Euro VI emissions standards.
