Liebherr has inaugurated a newly erected facility in Dammam aimed at strengthening the sales and service staff of its cranes, foundation work and concrete technology product divisions in eastern Saudi Arabia and neighbouring Bahrain.
The new-build development has more warehousing space for greater parts availability and improved spare parts supply, including air-conditioned storage areas for electronic and rubber parts and a dedicated warehouse for large components.
Manned by around 30 staff, the complex will enable the Saudi Liebherr Co. (Liebherr’s 60%-owned joint venture in Saudi Arabia) to deliver better after-sales and repair services to customers. The fully equipped workshop area is also big enough even for large cranes, and there is also a welding station to allow for fairly major repairs to local machines.
“Repairs, after-sales service using genuine parts, washing and testing — we can now provide our customers with a complete care-free package,” said Markus Burgstall, the division manager for mobile cranes at the latest Liebherr branch.
The new complex in Dammam took just 14 months to build and signals Liebherr’s commitment to its local customers and partners, as well as its confidence in the market.
The manufacturer has had a presence in Dammam for the last 12 years, but the scale of local business has recently outgrew the offices previously leased by the local operation — prompting the decision to establish a facility.
The construction of a dedicated complex of offices and service facilities to European standards also ultimately falls in line with Liebherr’s broader aim to provide quick, quality service all over the world — one of the main factors behind the brand’s success.
Even though the Saudi market it is currently going through a tough period as a result of the low oil price, the country remains one of the main markets for Liebherr in the Middle East.
The manufacturer has had its own employees on the ground in the country for 35 years, with headquarters in Jeddah and additional offices in Riyadh.
