Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) is planning to relocate the company’s headquarters from its current location in Brussels, Belgium back to Volvo Group’s homes city of Gothenburg, Sweden.
The stated motive behind the relocation is that it will facilitate closer cooperation with the group’s other business areas and allow for better usage of competence and resources of the group as a whole.
“Our Brussels location has served us well since the office opened in the 1980s and this move comes at the right time for Volvo CE as we continue to adapt our Company to changing global business dynamics,” said Martin Weissburg, president of Volvo CE and Volvo Group board member.
“It allows us to be physically closer to the other Volvo business areas and it will facilitate closer cooperation and sharing of best practices.”
Sweden is also home to approximately 4,000 Volvo CE employees and to this day is the location for some of the company’s largest manufacturing, commercial and technology site, such as Eskilstuna.
The Volvo CE headquarters will be operating out of Gothenburg from the third quarter of 2017.
