Dammam’s Al Khaldi Transport Group signed an order on 23 March for a combination of 540 heavy- and medium- duty Mercedes-Benz trucks for operation in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Straddling three Mercedes-Benz product lines, the order includes heavy-duty Actros trucks, and medium-duty Atego and Accelo models – all coming with a full service and maintenance contract.
“It is our clear ambition at Mercedes-Benz to build trucks that deliver quality and excellence to our customers. The latest major order by our standing customer Al-Khaldi Transport further proves that we succeed in our ambition,” said Stefan Buchner, head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
With the deal, the Al Khaldi Transport Group will increase their total fleet of Mercedes-Benz trucks to approximately 1,045 units.
Al Khaldi Transport Group has been a provider of transport services for oil fields, construction sites and the chemical industry since 1972, and ordered the vehicles with a customised support package, including full servicing, driver and engineer training and a 24/7 roadside assistance guarantee.
Buchner added: “This fleet deal is also the result of our new regional centre MENA in Dubai, which has made us even more effective in the Middle East and in North Africa – both in sales and in customer services.”
The Daimler Commercial Vehicles Middle East North Africa (DCV MENA) regional headquarters in Dubai was officially inaugurated in October 2015.
It accompanied a split in Daimler’s sales and service teams in the region between its commercial vehicles business and Mercedes-Benz’s passenger car line.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a core market in the MENA region for Mercedes-Benz trucks, and more than 43,500 Mercedes-Benz trucks have been distributed by Juffali Industrial Products Company since 2002.
