Emirates Motor Company (EMC) has delivered 50 Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks to Abu Dhabi-based Transgulf Readymix in what is believed to be one of the largest deals of its kind in the UAE.

The 50 Actros 4440 8×4 vehicles were fitted with Leibherr 12m3 mixers and are part of a major capacity boost by Transgulf – which is already one of the region’s largest ready mix firms – as it looks to expand its business in the region.

EMC, the Mercedes-Benz distributor for Abu Dhabi and and Al Fahim Group company, supplied the Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles with five years’ extended warranty, repair and maintenance.

Remarking on the agreement, Bilal Al Ribi, general manager of Emirates Motor Company Daimler Commercial Vehicles, said: “We’re delighted to be handing over a fleet of heavy-duty vehicles today in partnership with Liebherr.

“We have been working closely with the team at Transgulf Readymix for many months as we looked to identify their needs and create a package of vehicles and equipment that best meets those needs.

“These 50 vehicles will allow them to take their business onto a whole new level and we wish them every success as they continue to grow.”

The deal is the second major order for EMC in as many months after it delivered 27 Mercedes-Benz Zetros 6×6 tractor-head trucks to Suhail Al Mazroui Transportation and Heavy Equipment Establishment.

One of the trucks in the deal is the 5,555th Zetros ever produced, and the deal was presided over by senior representatives from Daimler’s local and international commercial vehicles teams.

The trucks will be used by Suhail al Mazroui Est. for heavy equipment transport and oil and gas field installations and supply, where their all-wheel drive and cab-behind engine design will deliver on both manoeuvrability and driving comfort in the extreme off-road applications that they will face.

Rashed Suhail Helal Al Mazroui, CEO of Suhail Al Mazroui, noted that robustness, reliability and performance were key considerations, and that the company was similarly looking to expand upon its existing truck fleet and off-road capabilities.
