Logic Energy, the company behind the WindCrane wind speed and weather monitoring tools, has released a miniature device.

Like the WindCrane Max, the WindCrane Mini is a tough, self-contained wind monitoring device that delivers data via GSM communications, like a telematics systems.

The manufacturer claims that its device’s ability to continuously emit signals makes it extremely reliable compared to other wind speed monitors, which only use radio signals. The Mini model comes with a three-year warranty as standard.

Lisa Cairns, commercial director at Logic Energy, said: “We designed the Mini specifically for temporary structures where wind monitoring is crucial for health and safety as well as downtime monitoring. The kit has all of the features of the WindCrane cloud-based app and it’s perfect for companies that need only wind measurement for a lower price.”

Beyond safety, effective weather monitoring can provide companies with a critical edge in any subsequent disputes if, for example, heavy lifting operations are delayed by weather conditions – by delivering precise, time-stamped information on the conditions in question.

WindCrane’s devices and software also contribute to profitability by delivering early warnings on potential weather situations to allow operators to react on time and reschedule their work and material deliveries accordingly.

The Mini has been designed for tower crane operators, construction site managers, and event management companies that need live and archived wind data for periods of operation. According to Logic Energy, the Mini product has already garnered plenty of interest from its existing clients.

“We have been supplying GSM wind monitoring systems to the renewable energy sector and academia for years,” said Cairns. “We find that once a company tries the Mini and sees how robust and reliable it is, they want to use it on all of their sites.”

The data can subsequently be downloaded 24/7 from Logic Energy’s the cloud platform, which comes with unlimited data storage, while the status of an entire fleet can be quickly viewed via the company’s app.

Based in Glasgow, UK, Logic Energy has more than 10 years of experience providing energy and weather monitoring services designed to industrial-grade specs for the toughest site constructions.

Its technology has been field-proven under the harshest site conditions, from the frozen far reaches of Antarctic to some of the driest deserts in America.
