Bahrain to build five new EV charging stations

The Bahrain minister stressed the keenness of the ministry in adopting policies that encourage the use of EVs

Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Affairs (EWA) ministry has announced its intention to construct five rapid charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in the country, the country’s senior minister said.

The minister, Yaser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, stated that this initiative aligns with the goal established by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).

Following a meeting with the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Car Dealers Association, Minister Humaidan expressed the ministry’s commitment to implementing policies that promote the adoption of EVs.

He also highlighted the importance of promoting renewable energy projects, including the integration of EVs, and establishing the necessary infrastructure to support a sustainable lifestyle for the kingdom’s residents.

The minister further emphasised that strengthening the partnership between the private sector and civil society institutions would contribute to the development of various services offered to the citizens and residents of Bahrain.
