Larsen & Toubro (L&T), India’s largest EPC company, has secured new contracts for building power transmission and distribution (PT&D) lines in Saudi Arabia.

In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, L&T announced that its subsidiary in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has secured two orders to establish 380kV overhead power transmission lines connecting prominent cities situated on the Red Sea coast.

“These systems will strengthen projects that involve 400KM of transmission lines to meet the growing demand in these industrials and tourism hubs, encompassing approximately 400 kilometers of transmission lines to cater to the escalating demand,” the company said in the filing.

L&T said it also secured another order to design, supply, and construct a 380kV substation in the central region of KSA.

The substation will be a crucial element to evacuate renewable capacity as part of the Kingdom’s diversification to non-fossil fuel sources in their electricity mix, it added.

Beside these, the company also bagged contracts related to the Revamped Reforms Based and Results-Linked Distribution Sector (RDSS) Scheme projects in the Indian market.

The scope of work involves modernisation and development of distribution infrastructure in three districts of Gujarat’s southern region, L&T said.
