SNC-Lavalin bags cooling contract for Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Park district

Green Park Cooling Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Tabreed known for providing sustainable district cooling solutions for major projects in Saudi Arabia, has granted SNC-Lavalin a contract for district cooling services at King Salman Park.

Under the 27-month agreement, SNC-Lavalin will handle the engineering, procurement, and construction aspects of the park’s district cooling plant, which will have a total capacity of 60,000 TR.

The project entails designing, installing, automating, testing, and commissioning the plant, with the flexibility to execute it in three phases without disrupting operations.

SNC-Lavalin plans to employ advanced techniques like Building Information Modeling (BIM) and data analytics tools to ensure efficient project delivery.

Mohamed Youssef, Senior Vice President of Projects and O&M, Engineering Services for the Middle East and Africa,  hasexpressed confidence in SNC-Lavalin’s ability to deliver high-quality district cooling services, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and contributing to the improved quality of life in Riyadh.

King Salman Park, spanning over 16 square kilometers, is slated to become the world’s largest urban park, featuring extensive green spaces, one million trees, and notable landmarks.

It will enhance vegetation and per capita green spaces, positively impacting the environment and climate. SNC-Lavalin, renowned for its expertise in district cooling, offers energy-efficient solutions for both industrial and public/private buildings, resulting in reduced costs and carbon emissions.

The company has successfully executed more than 50 district cooling projects in the Middle East, with a combined capacity of 720,000 TR.
