UAE has announced some changes in work visa under which Jobseekers in the country can legally work for an employer for a period of six months by obtaining a temporary work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
This permit can also be obtained if someone wishes to work for two employers, provided that their primary employer allows them to work part-time for the secondary employer.
In a recent update through their official Twitter handle, MoHRE reminded jobseekers about the availability of the temporary work permit.
To apply for a temporary work permit in the UAE, follow these steps:
- Prepare a clear photograph of yourself with a white background.
- Provide a copy of your passport, which should be valid for at least six months.
- Ensure that both you and your employer have signed the Standard Employment Contract Form.
- If you fall under skill levels one or two, you need to provide an attested academic certificate issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. State-issued certificates are exempted.
- If your profession requires a professional license, such as doctors, nurses, teachers, or advocates, make sure you possess the relevant license issued by the competent authority (e.g., Ministry of Health for doctors and nurses, Ministry of Education or Knowledge Authority for teachers).
- Obtain approval from your current employer on the e-form to acquire the temporary work permit.
- If you have a pending labor case, complete a form issued by the court handling your case and submit it to obtain the permit.
The temporary work permit can be applied via the MoHRE website, MOHRE smart app, Business Service Centers, TAW-SEEL.
