CONEXPO: Bair looks to expand global customer base

Bair Products was originally founded by Larry Bair, the third-generation owner of Kansas-based construction company Bair Excavating.

The products were initially developed by Bair in a bid to minimise downtime amongst his fleet of Caterpillar skid-steer loaders. Today, the firm produces parts compatible with a number of the leading construction equipment brands, and distributes to regions across the globe.

“So far in 2014, we have enjoyed steady sales,” Tonya Bair, vice president of Bair Products, told PMV. “Given the severe snow storms that have plagued the United States during the last few months, many of our customers have been weathered out, giving them the opportunity to conduct repairs on their machinery.”

Bair is looking to take advantage of this early success with a good showing in Las Vegas. Indeed, the family-run business has a few tricks up its sleeve to grab the attention of passers by.

“Firstly, we will be showcasing our latest range of undercarriages,” she explained. “Customers will be able to touch and move all of the parts to see the improvements that we have made over the factory system. Also, due to popular demand, our mascot ‘Brownie’ – a nine-foot tall brown bear from Alaska – will be returning for his sixth convention.”

The company will also use the show as a platform to strengthen its ever-expanding global customer base.

“Bair has succeeded in providing quality upgraded undercarriage parts in the United States, Canada, Russia, Germany, and South Pacific countries,” concluded Bair. “We are now branching out into other European countries, and markets such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and India.”
