Sennebogen has revealed plans to extend its production and warehouse areas in Straubing, Germany.

The machinery manufacturer will extend its existing facilities by 35,000m2 to cater to growing demand for larger machines.

In addition, the firm will build a 6,700m2 production shop, which is to be used for the assembly and painting of large components, and for finishing work and quality control.

Commenting on the expansion plans, company owner Walter Sennebogen, said: “The market is trending toward customisation and larger machines. This can best be seen in our 300-tonne rope excavator, which, due to its size and weight, is always a challenge in our current production halls.

“Long-term investments like these are therefore necessary to meet future market requirements in an optimal manner. Sennebogen products ‘made in Straubing’ stand for quality and have proved their worth around the world,” he added.

The factory premises are to be expanded in two construction phases. The first phase, which is already underway, involves the construction of a paved surface for the technical approval of telescopic cranes and rope excavators, and for a new noise-metering area.

A new assembly and paint shop for large machines will be built as part of the second phase, which is due to complete by the end of 2016.

Erich Sennebogen, managing director of the firm, added: “As a family-owned company, we feel committed to long-term planning and to adjusting our production facilities to meet market requirements of the future. This plant extension ensures optimised logistics, enhanced reliability, and an even better working environment for our team.”
