CFC Tower has ordered two Himoinsa HDW-750 T5 generator sets to secure a ready supply of emergency power.

The 26-storey building, which is the first to be developed in Morocco’s Casablanca Finance City (CFC), is home to the headquarters of numerous banks and financial institutions.

The Himoinsa units were purchased in a bid to guard against potential financial losses, which may be incurred in the event of a power outage.

Oger International’s Redouane Mouzani, head of engineering for the CFC Tower project, said: “[Himoinsa was] the only company able to come up with a technical engineering solution adapted to the limitations of the room in the installation.

“We chose Himoinsa because of [its] flexibility in designing and manufacturing the gensets, and because [its] engineering team works so quickly.”

In order to fit the generators into the allocated space at CFC Tower, Himoinsa’s engineering team had to redesign their standard canopies. As the height of the room precluded the integration of a high-level air outlet, the units’ exhaust systems also had to be modified to expel gases and hot air from the front.

Working in parallel, the HDW-750 T5 gensets will be able to suppy up to 1.3MW of standby power, according to their manufacturer.

Karim Housni Alaoui, project head for Cegelec, the firm responsible for power at the CFC Tower development, said his team could not afford to cut corners when it came to electricity supply.

“We had to be sure we were choosing the best generator for us and for our client,” he explained. “We chose Himoinsa because [it] guaranteed an excellent aftersales service, a high availability of replacement parts, a quality product, and because [it] quickly resolved the engineering challenges that the project presented.”

The HDW-750 T5 gensets feature a DS8610 control unit, which allows them to work in parallel. To comply with France’s NFE37312_61940 standard, an additional control unit was included to ensure that – in the event of a failure in the main control unit – at least one of the generators will continue to run.

The CFC Tower gensets were supplied by Morenergy for Africa, Himoinsa’s authorised distributor in Morocco.
