Caterpillar has launched a new range of compactors tailored for the rental market.
The US-headquartered equipment manufacturer’s CB2.5, CB2.7, CB2.9, and CC2.6 models have been designed to offer versatility in the 2.5-tonne to 2.9-tonne weight class.
The machines are easy to operate, simple to transport, and quick to service, according to Caterpillar. They can be used for a wide array of compaction applications, including streets, bike paths, courtyards, patchwork, car parks, driveways, town centres, and shoulder work.
Unveiled by Cat Paving Products, the latest compactors feature toggle-type switches for rapid activation, and glow-plug technology to make starting easier. Analogue displays provide fuel level, engine temperature, and machine hour information.

The range’s single-point lifting option and hitch design mean that the machines can be easily hoisted onto transport vehicles. A foldable rollover protection structure (ROPS) has been included to minimise the transport height.
The models also boast simplified diagnostics and accessible service checks, and are equipped with fuses and relays to enable troubleshooting without the need for specialised equipment. Visual indicators for airflow, the fuel-water separator, cooling, hydraulic, and water-spray systems have also been integrated.
The compactors feature Caterpillar’s Product Link technology, which allows rental companies to stay informed about their machines’ locations and service requirements. The models’ C1.5 engines are equivalent to US EPA Tier 4 Interim, EU Stage IIIA, and China Stage III emission standards, and deliver 22.3kW (30.3 hp) of power.
