Video: Scania develops the AXL, a fully autonomous concept truck without a cab

The Scania AXL is a fully autonomous concept truck, without a cab. The autonomous vehicle is equipped with cameras, radar, lidar and GPS receivers, and a new intelligent front module replaces the traditional cab.

The autonomous system is designed for the operational needs of mines where driving is fairly simple and predictable. Mines and large closed construction sites are favourable for self-driving pilots because they are well-controlled environments.
